🎓 Countdown to Graduation - #TBT to 50 years ago - Class of 1973. "Graduating 307 Seniors, ECHS initiated a new commencement custom for 1973. Instead of the usual individual tassel-changing to signify graduation, the senior class president, John Rod, instigated the group changing of the tassels. This ceremony unified the class for the last time." - 1973 ECHO
HOSA members took a field trip to visit the UTMB School of Nursing (Mrs. Kacer's alma mater) and the School of Health Professionals in Galveston this past Friday. They started the day hearing about the programs offered and the requirements needed. This was followed by a tour of the campus showcasing the nursing skills lab, study areas, and "Old Red" which at one point was a surgical theater (a place for medical students to watch live surgeries in a theater-style setting). They wrapped up the day with lunch at The Spot for burgers and ice cream while hanging out on the Seawall and enjoying the beautiful weather! Today, we recognize and celebrate the hard work and contributions of the administrative assistants of ECISD! Thank you for all that you do!
Volunteers Needed!
Students in the Health Science Phlebotomy Program at the high school are working to get their phlebotomist licenses to draw blood as medical assistants. The students have all successfully performed a blood draw on their teacher and classmates. Now they need you to help them each reach their 30 successful venipuncture sticks to get their license!
It is a small stick just to practice accessing the vein. They will not collect more than a few drops, no tests will be run, and blood will be disposed of after the draw.
Family and friends nights are from 3:30-6:30 pm on Wednesday, April 26th, and Wednesday, May 3rd in H7.
All participants will be entered to win one of five $50 AMEX gift cards or one of 3 $250 Visa gift cards. The more times you let them stick you, the more your name goes in the drawing!
