January is designated as School Board Recognition Month, and we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Board of Trustees for their dedicated service!

Hutchins Elementary loved getting a surprise visit from the Grinch before the break! After he visited every classroom, his heart grew three sizes!

Just a Reminder: Staff will return on Monday, January 6th. Students will return on Wednesday, January 8th. We can't wait to see you!

Students at Hutchins read the story "How to Catch the Gingerbread Man" and then created their own traps. Everyone did a great job and tapped their Gingerbread Man! After learning about how Julius Caesar was one of Rome's most influential leaders, 3rd grade students explored his character to determine how he could have been viewed as both a hero and a traitor to Romans. They analyzed all of the information they learned to take a position and create a plan to debate their position. Ms. Stock's class presented their ideas on how he could be portrayed as a hero, while Ms. Molina's class presented their arguments as to why they believed he was a traitor. See them here:

Mrs. Fernandez's 2nd graders engaged in several Thanksgiving activities packed with learning such as writing and presenting what they are thankful for, learning about the history and creating a First Thanksgiving bracelet, assembling turkeys by sorting fact and opinion feathers, collaborating to make a Favorite Pie graph and listening to a silly story, Turkey Trouble, to earn AR points. The class ended their festive day by joining other second graders to share a meal.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
